Parminder has been supported to gain an accountancy qualification

I started my job with Rhondda Housing Association straight after I finished my university degree in Economics. I was struggling to find employment as I had no experience to work in the relevant position I got my degree in. But RHA gave me a chance and I started work on a six month work experience position. Five years later, I’m still here and progressing.

The knowledge and experience I have gained working in the housing sector has been vast, which has not only helped me grow within my job but also as a person.

Working within RHA I am always encouraged to progress and develop myself, and was well supported by my team to gain my ACCA accountancy qualification, which was a long four year journey but such a relief to finally accomplish!

I enjoy my day to day role as it has always been full of variety, which has allowed me to work closely with different departments and our tenants, and gain a vast amount of experience. Working in finance I am pleased to provide support and assistance to both external suppliers but also internal colleagues, which enables them to work efficiently in their roles and duties.

What I like most about working in housing is the positive impact we can have on communities and people’s lives within South Wales. All the staff in RHA band together to assist in any way they can, which ranges from volunteering for community events to providing donations. During the five years I have worked here, it has always been the culture of RHA to develop and support communities and I am glad to be a part of it.
