Housing is a community

Community is seen everywhere in the housing sector. It’s the communities we create as housing associations, the connections with our colleagues and the way we group together as a sector for important causes.

An example of this is the ‘Here For Homes’ campaign earlier this year, where housing association members of Community Housing Cymru came together during the election period. As a sector we called on the next Welsh Government to put ‘home’ at the centre of their plans to support communities in Wales to live healthy, prosperous and connected lives.

At United Welsh, last month we came together to raise money for our charity of the year, Mind. Mind’s support is needed now more than ever, so we’re extremely proud to be fundraising for them this year.

A group of us committed to joining their ‘100 Miles for Mind’ challenge, walking 100 miles throughout October to raise funds for the charity. We laced up our walking boots and braved the elements to collectively clock up the 100 miles. We created a group chat to post updates, motivate each other and keep spirits up throughout the month.

Overall, we walked over 1,300 miles and raised over £1,100.

These are just a couple of examples of how communities form and thrive in housing, coming together both in organisations and sector-wide as forces for good. Want to join us? View the latest vacancies here.
