Finance Director Samantha loves the challenge

I started as a Management Accountant at Cadwyn 10 years ago. At that time, the accounts were only produced quarterly so the job was relatively easy, enabling me to really get under Cadwyn’s skin and, pretty much, come to know the organisation inside out. I became the Finance Manager in 2012 and then Finance Director in January 2018.

My career began in the third sector working as a Finance Assistant at an organisation called Ategi. I loved its culture and ethos. I took the job as far as I could and was part-qualified before moving to the private sector. In 2007, I started at Taylor Wimpey and, as we all know, the housing market crashed in 2008; it was an extremely challenging time, but no experience is a bad experience and I learned a huge amount.

Being a diverse organisation, Cadwyn brings a lot of challenges and a lot of plate-spinning. Every part of Cadwyn is different and has different strengths. When resources are tight the challenge is to constantly ask yourself what’s important, and for me, how accurate certain things need to be. I need to be highly organised and able to recognise when priorities change.
I’m excited about the potential for growth and increasing our surplus to re-invest in services for customers. I am also really keen to support the health and wellbeing of staff and residents and to find innovative ways of doing this
