Chris, Data Engineer

Chris Geldard is Linc’s Data Engineer, here he tells us how his role is contributing to the advancement of the sector’s use of data and technology.

“It’s an exciting time to be working in housing, especially if you’re a technology and data person.

I started my career at a company developing Business Intelligence Tools and had little awareness of the social housing sector or what it had to offer.

When I joined the team at Linc, I quickly learned that they are keen to progress and try new things.

Key parts of my role include making sure our systems are looked after and our data warehouse is in a good shape. This allows me to explore the best new technology and use my skills to help the company make positive strides forward in technology and data.

We’re currently moving into predictive analysis; this has infinite scope so we’re only just scratching the surface on how we’ll use it. It’s very exciting!

As well as my interest in technology, my role at Linc also works for me because it’s people focused. Data can often feel faceless, so it’s nice to be part of a sector where the data you gather and use has a positive impact on people’s experience.

My role sees me work as part of a great team, as well as giving me the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues across the business.

The sector is moving in a positive direction and it is willing to take a step forward, so there’s a chance for people working in data to meaningfully contribute and put your stamp on something.

I would definitely recommend a job in the housing sector!”
