Before joining Hafod in March 2019 as a Quality Performance Administrator I was a Junior Developer at Swalec, an electricity supply and distribution company. I was looking to broaden my opportunities and a career in the housing sector offered me a chance to do this, as well as use my expertise for good to help make lives better.
In my first role with Hafod I helped monitor and keep track of all the regulatory and compliance information that is required for the running of our care homes, and I quickly earned a reputation as an Excel wizard! I also built a temporary absence monitoring system for HR which gave me the opportunity to showcase my technical knowledge.
It’s really satisfying being able to support colleagues by making their reporting processes quicker and easier as I know it’s enabling them to spend more time working with customers.
Shortly after the first lockdown in 2020, I joined our Transformation team with a view to help more people across the business in care, housing and support. As part of my development in the role of Transformation Data Officer, I’ve been very fortunate to complete my Prince2Agile and Lean Six Sigma Green belt training. Completing these qualifications has boosted my knowledge and confidence to help better manage projects at Hafod.
Towards the end of 2021 I was thrilled to become a Digital Developer in our recently expanded IT and Digital team, a role I’ve been aiming towards for the past few years. So far, this position has allowed me to hone my coding skills with SQL training and learn more about how we record and use data. I’m very excited to be part of the team that will help deliver a digital future for the benefit of customers and colleagues.
I really enjoy being in a role where I can make a difference every day and I’m grateful that the housing sector has given me such fantastic opportunities to progress. If you get the chance to join the housing, care and support sector, take it with both hands as you never know where it may lead.
